Pete,
While I can understand the sentiment, please don't cross post wanted requests. I imagine finding a spare Alcedo spool (without buying a whole second reel) is like finding chicken's teeth. Might it be easier to take your existing spool to a local machine shop and have them make you a new one? I use old Mitchell 304 spinning reels. A solid aluminum spool would be a big upgrade on the Mitchell. It would even be possible to modify the Mitchell spool and put a real set of drag washers inside. Does anyone think there would be enough of a market for spare spinning reel parts to encourage a custom machinist (a la Bill Archuletta) to offer his services? Tom |

Sorry for the cross-post, Tom. I think I'm going to have to find a "parts reel" for an extra spool. I also have a Mitchell 308 and spare spools
for those seem quite common. I actually prefer the Mitchell spool because you can take it off with out having to unscrew anything and risk dropping it in the
drink. The Alcedo is needed in faster water...

the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.
