Blue cats and bream were even more fun on the XXL St Croix 6-0 from yuhina- quite the tug!
Charles really enjoyed his gift Kettle Creek rod built by Doug Hollen. Matched to his Martin auto, it made a cool black statement
He put together a three piece mono leader for it and hit the water
I took a turn with the rod- what a sweet, slow action with great power
Everyone wanted a turn. Molly showed a surprising agility waiting for the rod's loooong backcast to load. A holiday game of "cast to the flag" ensued
Cousin Phillip, just another natural-born caster fishing since he was tiny. Complained he hadn't used a fly rod in years, then precisely tossed the fly into an impossible hole under an overhanging shade tree
