THIS JUST IN!!!! THE BRAZOS IS BACK!!!! After reading some encouraging posts about the brazos below whitney, i decided to finally get my lazy
butt out of bed, and head on down to check it out!! Glad I did!! When I drove over the bridge by Dick's, I could tell the river was full, of fresh, clear
water!! Yeah!! I get to the access spot, and see some nice current, so in I go. Took a while to paddle, and wade up to my favorite part of the river, but
I'm glad I did. On the way, caught a couple of sandies, and had a gar on for a brief moment. Made it up to the riffles, and bingo. First few fish were
spots, spunky guys. Then it was time for smallies, and a few largemouths. Looks like the river is in great shape for the glassic!!! Clear water, cooler temps,
fish moving around, and current. And no LEECHES!!!
Can't wait. I am working on the menu, now. Question for you guys. Would it be better for everyone to pitch in and bring food, or have someone bring it all, then charge everyone a price?? What do you guys think?? One thing for sure. If we are going to have a fish fry, we need some fish??? Start getting some saved up, for the fry. TTYL, Russell Fly fishing is not the only part of the adventure!!

I plan on being there if Russell promises to behave himself. Will make a couple of cobblers and just so I don't forget it, I took the Blue Bell out of the
freezer and set it on the counter today so I won't miss it when I head out the door next month.

ok, so this year, i am trying to base the menu, on the local culture, and to reflect on the environment, that makes up the Brazos River Valley! So, the menu
may look like this, with your approval:
appetizers will be: fresh zebra mussels over river moss sauteed pyschodelic mushrooms, fresh from the garden?? or jack's cow poop, whichever is easier to find roasted pecans, if your lazy butts will pick em up bermuda grass salad, with pine cone croutons, and hedge apple dressing main entree's will be: grilled guinea, fresh from the range, jack's place that is deep fried carp, plenty of them in the river squirrel stew, if Barry will shoot em, or bring some from his yard fresh corn on the cob, from the neighbor's garden drinks from the bar: east texas white lightning, right from post # 43!!! weed whack a rita's dessert will be: pecan crusted hedgeapple cobbler with ice cream made from jacks cows milk!!! Now that's fresh!!! Fly fishing is not the only part of the adventure!!

Last year I was there AND saw the pictures. Being there is much better. Words and pictures can't describe JB & Cody. You can hear about them, but it isn't the same as hearing them! I even had a sippy cup picked out for the Weed-Whack-a-Ritas! Tom |

I don't think JB will be able to make this one. He's head of maintenance for the TX Rangers and it looks like they might make the play-offs this year. If that happens (and it could), JB won't have enough time to go home at night, let alone attend the Glassic. However, his half-brother will definitely be there.
