I just recently purchased the Shakespeare 809 from Bill Lambot. I've never fished any Shakespeare Wonderod, so I was wondering if anyone has opinions on
this rod? Thanks

Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time.

cofisher---I carry one as in my car fish anytime rod---the main thing is to get a reel to balance it will---I use an automatic with 7dt line or 8wt f---the rod
cast very easily setup this way and is fun to use in pond or small river/stream---good luck with it .

Great photos, Howard. And ain't that a clean, shiny lookin' rod, though? Have you cast it yet?

Dennis it's a beautiful looking rod. Don't have it in my hands yet, but I hope it gets here before Pam gets back from Ohio. I'll bring it to
Jefferson.

I've got the rod a few days ago and have lawn cast it a couple of times while i await my next trip. All I can say is WOW! This Wonderod is the most
versatile rod I have ever had my hands on. Gary (midmofly) uses a DT7 or WF8. Bill, the seller, uses a DT4. I was casting a DT5 and WF6 and enjoying it as
well. I'm sure that the full action and flex of the rod comes to the fore when loaded with the heavier line, but it's a perfectly suitable trout rod
with the lighter line.
I know glass is versatile, but is this wide range of line weights normal?

I wouldn't say its normal, but not too surprising. The Sceptres certainly keep people happy over a wide range of weights and I fish my 7' from Andy
with anything from a DT 5 to a WF 7. Given the way I like a rod to feel, I'd probably be in agreement with midmofly but could happily use it down in the DT
5--WF 6 zone. I'd imagine you'll find a line or combination of lines that work best for that rod in your hands.
Sounds like you are happy with it and that's what matters.
