I sent this rod out to our very own Scud Dog for the Yellow Creek Coalition raffle which occurred this past Sat...
I hope SD will chime in with how the Pig Roast went... i know a number of individuals also sent flies for the occasion. It was a pleasure building a rod for a group who is actively working on keeping fishing opportunities available on streams in PA... I hope to attend the pig roast next summer to deliver the 2010 rod personally...
as for the rod... it's a Steffen blank - 7' 2/3 2pc. wrapped in Pearsalls Chesnut tipped black finished with varnish, the reel seat is a piece of PA black cherry crotch with aluminum hardware... this was the first time I used aluminum for a seat... it machined and finished very nicely... the weight savings over NS is remarkable... i still prefer the look of blued NS but for bright hardware, well- polished aluminum is a great option... guides are snake brand with a black and white speckled jasper stripping guide...
It was a fun project and I was happy to help out the group... it sounds like there are some fiberglass fishers who belong to the group and i'm sure this rod found a home where it will be used!
