If Cortland were to resurrect the Diamondglass line they would most likely be made in Korea or where ever their line of graphite rods is manufactured. They would then be competing with Hardy for fiberglass rod sales, although at probably a lower cost. I don't think that would be a successful venture for Cortland.

Would you buy a Diamondglass rod made in Korea? One of the things I liked about the rod was that it was made in the U.S. (Vermont). Perhaps they could just sell blanks like Lamiglas, but those too would probably be made overseas. There just isn't enough margin for Cortland to set up new manufacturing facilities in the U.S. In these economic times it is doubtful that Cortland will be investing in something like that. It's more likely that they will invest in fly line technology or just ride out the slump. Even though it seems like there is currently a large demand for fiberglass rods it is pretty small compared to the demnand for graphite rods.

I think that Cortland does a lot better job of designing new products than they do in marketing them. It sounds like their deal to market Hardy's gear was a disaster (at least in Hardy's eyes). Cortland lines aren't available locally here and it seems like it is getting harder to find them from online retailers too. The Cortland website has been improved, but it was terrible to use in the past. I've ordered catalogs from them several times in the past and not received them. That's not how you get sales these days.
