I understand that TL Johnson is coming out with a new line of fiberglass rods. The actions are supposed to be the same, but the color will no longer be green,
but more bamboo-like. Does anyone have additional information about this new line?

Al,
Yes, Terry Johnson is designing a new rod line up. The color will be more "bamboo-like" and the rod actions may be a little more vintage. Right now the Synergy Glass was designed for a more Western fishing style - longer casts against the wind. The new line up should be just a little more limber. TL Johnson's Synergy Glass rods are still available last I knew. Terry hasn't released the new line up yet, but hopefully it will be soon. Tom |

Tom, I emailed Terry Johnson about this issue, and this is what he said: "The only big difference is going to be the color. New color is called Cane,
which look like bamboo in color. The 8' 5 wt is going thru a slight taper change to give it a slimmer profile. The 8' ers now are a larger diameter
like to old glass rods . . . The current 8' rods will handle a 5/6 line. We build western action rods. I told the board we were looking at possibly
designing a more traditional action glass but it won't be far off from our designs now just no graphite used. But those rods are way off." This is
kind of like answering my own question, but I hope it helps. Alex

And they cast as nice as they look.

Thanks Guys for all your interest! We are finalizing these rods now and should have them ready in about 30 days. We are using the same designs as the old SG
rods but with the color change to give them a more vintage feel. I am also working on a straight unidirectional all glass rod as well for next year. The new
vintage glass will be offered similar to the glass rod companies of old in different versions with different components, such as our new all aluminum bronze
reel seat. By the way all TLJ reel seats are custom built for us by Lemke Concepts, Joel and I have known each other for over 20 years and we were his first
customer and we have done alot of designs together. Our glass will have an E.C. Powell style seat. These will be done within the next 2 weeks. We also have
aquired some old vintage green/black twist and red / black twist thread for these rods. They will mainly be built to order, but we will have a standard model
as well. I am trying to keep the standard pricing around $395. I hope this will answer some of your questions and hope you will be as excited about these new
rods as we are.
Take Care!! T.L. Johnson |
