you have 21 fly rods! Good thing she was smiling as she said that. Just in case I wandered into the closet to count all of her pairs of shoes. What is it
with women and shoes? She has yet to look in the cabinet wherein my many reels are stored.

They need all those shoes so they can walk all over you!
Don't even think about handbags/purses....you'll go crazy trying to count them. And don't ever, I repeat, EVER, take a look inside the old ones, you'll find: bubble gum wrappers, used napkins(for lipstick), pennies, is that a dead mouse, ink pens, worn out check book spines, melted chocolates, nail clippers, ohh two moldy Cheetos! |

21? only 21? I was feeling good 'cause I thought I had relatively few fly rods compared to most guys on here. You need to buy a few more to make me feel
better. But no reels off ebay, because I'm on a reel buying spree at the moment.

you guys know it! 21 is not counting the ones I have elsewhere in tubes waiting to be sold or rebuilt or the new rod that arrived Tuesday. Bags and purses - I
forgot about those. I no longer look in those things. I just ask my wife to get whatever it is I am looking for. No worry Flywalker since my reel buying days
are likely over. I bought a Marryat Baby 2 for the new rod and that feels about right.

I've gotten that same lecture, except she's not always smiling.

I get the head shake and "what do you need all those for?" every once in a while. I made the mistake of displaying my reels a couple of years
ago....let's just say any new aquisitions get stuck in a drawer!

Women fly fish, too, you know. My wife doesn't because she prefers gardening in season, but she does have four shotguns. She has cycling gear and the
shoes, but I have way more shoes and boots. She doesn't like all the boots, but she did give me a shelf for some fly reels, and a bureau for the rest. She
also has a little sports car, so I use 8' fly rods more often than I once did, as they fit sidewise in the trunk.

Hey Rockthief. You know, even considering the large expenses, I don't regret gettting rid of either of my ex-wives, but man, do I lament the day I got
greedy and sold my mint FF756-4. I got almost $250 for that rod... and was amazed by that, but I'd take it back. LOL.

Words of advice - never let them see them all in one place, keep them spread out and they kind of blend in more.

My dear wife is a fly fisher and I still get those looks. She enjoys her two graphite sticks, her Battenkill reels and her Caddis float tube. She still
doesn't understand what I'm doing or why. She also works from home, so she knows what comes in the mail. I've given up trying to hide things. When
she gives me one of those looks, I say, Well you knew I was crazy when you married me!

Hilarious.
I'm looking at a fine tubed Fenwick travel rod in the corner of the sunroom sent to me by Riffling Hitch (Russell) that Anne hasn't even spotted yet. Safety is in numbers!

to keep the Home General from being nosey, I printed up some cheap business cards and told her i was going into the rod repair business. Now, every rod(or
reel) that comes is one" to be repaired". Its my retirement job. You would be surprised at the difference the word "job" makes. Job
indicates money coming IN.......HOBBY indicates money going OUT........"NOTHING'S BOUGHT, EVERTHING IS SOLD....Ha!-p-

Pearow, you and I think a lot alike. Every time a rod shows up I complain that all "you guys" keep sending rods to take to Eagle Claw for repair.
Reels are a little tougher, but I just blame Cameron. She understands that.

Cabelas Rod Racks | ||

For those that have sold the wife and kept the fly rods, Cabelas has their rod racks on sale again at a pretty good savings:

Hello
My Wife has 21 fly rods you need to get up to speed. When I purchased another rod at the clave last week end my wife asked if I found her any good rods as well. Tight Lines and Not All Wife's Complain About Fly Rods. Andy M

Almost makes me think about getting another one of those racks. But the savings would be quickly eaten up in filling all those holes.

Upstreeam...you don't need a rod rack! You're single. Fill up the spare bedroom with rod tubes and no one will say a word. HA...

That actually strikes pretty close to home, Cameron. After a trip, I usually take them out of tubes to fully dry and lay them on the guest bed. If there are no
guests, and not enough fishing, they can lay there for weeks.
I do make occasional efforts at organization. Nothing worse than wanting to take a certain piece of gear on a trip and not be able to find it. Bob |
