That's one of the episodes I missed. Nice to see it's on reruns. According to the Outdoor channel website the Guadalupe river episode will be shown
again on Friday and twice on Saturday.

I caught it this morning. That was too cool, Bulldog. Its nice to see such finesse and style on a fishing show. Perhaps one of the most enjoyable fishing
shows I've seen. Congratulations.
Man, they say everything is big in Texas, and I guess the trout are no exception. -Dave |

Not only did I finally watch it today, but I also recorded it! It was a great episode! Well Done Bulldog!
Ron. which Heddon rod were you using? And which of your sweet reels was on that rod? |

I caught it this afternoon. Wicked good show Ron! Count me amongst those who were impressed with the beauty of those Emerson Rainbows and the Guadalupe river.
And you gotta love the quote from the fish and game guy.
" In Texas, whiskey's for drinking water's for fighting" |

Ain't nothing small about those trout. We made a trip out there (from Baton Rouge) in April and kayaked part of the Guadalupe. Caught some awesome trout.
They are fiesty and sizeable. By the way, the guy in the picture is a big ole Texan (about six foot ten) and the trout still looks nice up against his stature.
I think that quote about the water and the whiskey is a good one!

flyslinger...looks like you had a GREAT trip!
I agree that the episode was really excellent to watch and made me think even more about taking a trip someday to the Hill Country of Texas! |

Hi All;
I finally watched the episode saturday morning, very well done! I've caught most of the episodes of this show this year and have to say that was the best! First, you have Ron catching the first fish, on bamboo and you can just hear the reel singing it's sweet song! As unique a trout fishery as you will probably find anywhere, and the fish were all quite large. Then the explanation of how the fishery came about and what lengths the local chapter of TU have gone to to keep it a quality fishery! Ron: You need to let us know what rig you were using, and then compare to the other rigs. Could be another budget vs. high dollar thread there. Wayneb |

The first day when we're bundled up, I'm using a Folsom (Heddon) 8-1/2' size 2 ferrule (2f) a solid 6-wt.and a great trout rod in the beating wind.
The reel is a 3-1/2" Young perfect, marked for MC Thornburn Edinburgh
The second day, bright sun and light wind, I'm fishing an F.E. Thomas Special, 8-1/2' 4/5 wt. with a Young pattern 15a reel, my L&C Varden The same pattern Young reel was also sold as the Thomas Special
reel.

That Varden reel is simply beautiful! And it looks great on that Thomas rod. I didn't realize that the FE Thomas Special used a line that light (4/5). The
Thomas rods always get my attention when I see one for sale.

bring me brew.
Dogfish Head 60-minute IPA would go nicely. (I'm not so much the 90-min type, don't like the heavy malt) look at this:

Hi Ron;
Thanks for sharing info on the outfits you used! I rewound and listened to the sing of the 3 1/2" Young Perfect a couple of times, sweet sound! Wayne |
