I just picked up a FF756 with an M serial number which dates I believe to 1974-1975, that appears to have never been used or a reel ever mounted on it. I paid $50.00 for it with triangle tube and sock, and all stickers still on the tube. I was curious if I did well for my money on this? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Dennis(peartree51)

I'm glad you decided to join the fun and post. A minty FF756 for $50 with tube and bag? I'll say you did exceptionally well. The FF756 is an all purpose fly rod. You can use it for trout, panfish, bass, light salt, fly rod lures, and anything else that needs a 6 weight line. Depending on your casting style and preferences, you might like this rod with anything from a DT5 to a WF7. With the 5 weight, the rod will feel very quick. With the 7 weight, it will feel much slower, but still in control. I suspect most people like this rod best with a 6 weight. Tom

Lots of those 756's around, and used ones go pretty cheap sometimes, but sound like yours is virgin. A very nice rod, I have used mine a lot, makes a nice bass/small pike rod with a 7wt and will throw a fairly big bug, with a 6wt is pretty zippy and will deal well with buggers and hopper or just about anything for that matter. For glass a fast rod, have fun with it! Keith

I use mine with a DT 6wt for fishing for trout with dries and when I'm having a good day it will put short or long casts with big or small flies right where I want 'em. Its been my go-to dry fly rod since I first got it at a yard sale over 12 years ago. -Dave
