45Fly...no information to give on that fly rod...but it sure it pretty. Kind of gaudy with the wraps...but in a great way. I like. How does it cast and
fish?

I wish I could help, but no joy here. I agree with Cameron...that is a right purty rod. And it looks to be in great shape, as well. I hope it fishes as good
as it looks.

Guessing South Bend on this one, but that red throws me off. I like this rod with those gaudy wraps and red color. There are some special fly rods we lucky
folks own. THis is one.

South Bend comes to mind, or the Gladding conglomerate which also owned Horrocks-Ibbotson, US Fiberglass, and Bronson. True Temper/Montague is another
possibility and they made some rods for Sears, according to Vic Johnson's Fiberglass Fly Rods book.
That diamond wrap looks too nice to be from the factory. It appears the guide wraps have bands of white paint under the black thread wraps. The diamond wrap was done with white and black thread. I think the diamonds were added later. Tom |

Tom is uisually right, but I would disagree this time, I think the diamond look is factory. A very good looking rod, I would fish that in a heartbeat.

Shakespeare Wonderrod dressed up? I say this, not referring to the spiral decorative wrap (a decal?). I can't see it well enough from the photo to be sure,
but it looks to have the spiral layer on the blank under the red finish typical of Shakespeares. If you had one next to it to compare, you could tell in a
heartbeat, and probably by the feel of it as well.

Thanks for all the help. I guess it really doesn't matter I will fish it and just enjoy it. The diamond pattern is thread not a decal unless it is one good
decal that you can see the indavidual threads. I need to repair the handle there are several spots that have been chuncks knocked out . Down to the aluminum
base. So I guess it is off to the rod building and repair section of the forum.
