Is this a worthwhile exercise?
I've been reading the documents here:
http://www.common-cents.info/caq.htm#
and it seems like a nice objectively measurable way to describe the properties of a fly rod,
but also to compare/contrast with other rods. Not sure if the basis of statically testing
a rod by weighting the tip until it reaches a deflection = 1/3 the overall rod length,
and then measuring the deflected angle of the tip is the best way to test a rod;
but at least it's a consistent test, able to be applied to rods equally, and controlled.
apples-to-apples.
I think it would be interesting to plot the results of a fiberglass rod collection,
and see if the chart does indeed correctly describe our perception of a rod when fishing.
