I received my new FF75 from CTKenC and it is just great to cast. I am using GPX WF5F on it at the moment. I feel that the reel is too small for the rod, is it
common to increase reel size to help counter the weight of the rod? Also what lines do you guys suggest? I did fish it today and hooked up on a few fish but
it was virtually impossible to cast in the wind is this normal? I will have pics in a few days im taking it to steamboat.
Thanks CtKenC this rod is sweet. jka |

here is one of several balance topics: http://fiberglassflyrodde...balance.html#reply-42086
casting into the wind can be frustrating. Sometimes I find that a sidearm cast helps. Otherwise move up one rod weight and that might help.

You want to try and balance the rod and reel such that when you rest it on your finger it will balance within and inch or inch and a half from the tip of
the grip. You can step up in size (depending on the reel) or add weight to the reel, substitue lead core line for backing, etc. These guys will be happy to
sell you a variety of reels until it balances perfectly.

I like the FF75 with DT5 line rather than WF5 line, too. It smooths out the action for me, and seems to use more of the action of the rod. And I do prefer
having a heavy enough reel that the outfit doesn't feel tip-heavy. There's a point of balance where it's just right, but for me it's always
better to have it unbalanced toward the grip than toward the tip.

I'm a new F75 owner, too. I've tried both a 3" Beaudex and a Hardy LRH. Both balance an 1.5" -2" from the top of the cork. It does
really depend on what line you intend to use. Using DT will make it feel more tip heavy and a heavier reel might be a little more enjoyable. I always use WF
line. I have yet to cast it with 5wt line, but I've used both 444 wf6f and Teeny First Cast wf6f and liked 'em both on the FF75. Let me know what you
settle with.

Teru - That is a good looking rig. I swore off cast aluminum reels. I had two such reels that took big chips out of the spool rim after very minor falls. The
chips were big and sharp enough to slash fingers, palms and fly line. I decided that $50 fly line + stiches = milled bar stock reel, so I wasn't really
saving any money any way!

Thank's PeteStiles. It's seem that MC45 just match with FF75, but love to get Marryat CMR56 ( Bronze or Copper ) if i have the money for it
