Wonderful Gift!! |

Last evening was our local TU Spring dinner/auction. Those who know me understand that I am fairly conservative, but last night my son-in-law SHOCKED me when
he did the open auction and gave me the sweet glass case with a Regal vice holding a fly along with 14 other custom flies from George Harvey!! This went for
$600??? Hell, it is better than my 401K plan. I can not express my appreciation.

Nice! I would definitely display the flies. But I would have a hard time not using the vice.
Any chance of posting some photos? Tom |

Yes, but I am a 35mm photo guy learning the digital world, but I am so proud of this gift that I will find a way to post the Harvey display, and while I am at
it I will also try to show my new Mcfarland 7'2" semi-parabolic rod, as the reel seat and hardware are fantastic. This is a great forum!

There's no reason you can't use 35mm equipment for online photos. When you get the film developed, ask the processor to scan the negatives onto a CD
for you. It is usually pretty cheap, sometimes free. Download a copy of IrfanView
and use it to edit the photos before you post them online (cropping and resizing). Cameron swears by Picasa for the same uses.
I've yet to invest in digital equipment as good as my 35mm camera. When I really need to get a photo right the first time, because it will be the only time, I still use film. Tom |

Very nice, take that son-in-law fishing!
I'm with Tom, would love to see it and would certainly use the vise. Hayden

Jeff-
Sweet! Congrats - next time I'm in your neck of the woods let's put the vice to good use and play around with some new patterns - I've been tying some paraloop emergers, and I just picked up some of that midge size micro-tubing to try and tie some of those teeny green beadheads with the small antron wings that you showed me. I love my Regal with the midge jaws on it. Really great thing for your son-in-law to do. -Steve |
