DISCLAIMER: This is not a analysis of the physics or rod tapers comparison. It is my opinion of a new fly rod. I basically look for three items in a custom
rod.1. How much fun is it to fish? 2. The esthetics of the rod and 3. A connection at some level with the builder. As with most of us I buy rods from wants and
I like something alittle outside cookie cutter. OK, first the finish is on par with the J.D.Wagner Signature boo rod that I saw at The Feathered Hook ;
Mcfarland gathering. I need to also apologize for lack of a digital camera, but I am certain Mike has some pics on file. I then fished it hard for a day on
Spring Creek,PA tossing midges, small to medium nymph rigs, dries with droppers,. It is the easiest rod I own to cast, loads great short 15-20 ft, can toss 50
with no real effort. You simply feel at ease immediately with it and I am an ok fly caster, not like the pros that I saw in Coburn. OK, compared to my Spruce
Creek 8'5 wght I will say that they blend perfectly as a pair, a difference exist but one with more knowledge can describe the actions better than I. For
me I can switch back and forth with no thought process or change in motion. I will say this my guest that weekend had No background on glass, never toss one,
or heard S or E material choices, but after fishing my 8'5 rod order one tricked out like my 7'2"semi-para. Much thanks to our host and hostesses,
and great to meet up the wonderful folks hanging out on this forum.
