Anyone order or receive a Tom Morgan fiberglass blank yet? Would love to hear all about it.

I messaged him last week about availability,
and he said they wouldn't be ready until "around March 1st"...
"From my observations I think that most of us spend too much time worrying about our tackle and too little time
learning the intimate characteristics of the fish and streams we fish most."

I have one on order. 8ft 5wt.
I understand they'll be ready for shipment in about another month or so. |

Shoot, I blew the budget on a new reel, I want one of those Japanese market 3 wts and a 7 1/2' 4.

I had a very nice conversation with Gerri today.
They are in the process of rolling the blanks and it will still be a good while before they are ready. Like my father always told me.... "You can't rush quality". |

I got an email from Tom Morgan; it's looking like the end of April at this point.
I'm having trouble deciding between a 7'6" 4 wt, 8' 5 wt, or the 8'3" 6 wt. And no, all three are not an option! |

For what it's worth, I've cast the protos and my favorite was the 8' 5 wt. They are all very nice and the 8'3" 6 wt. is the one that Tom
designed for fishing streamers with the Morgan Twitch. I think Tom's favorite is the 7 wt. "Unity with the Universe" model. With a name like that
it must be his favorite!

16 pmd - neat that you got to cast the prototypes. What did you think of their actions between the ones you cast? Progressive? Dry fly action? Medium?
Med-slow?

I am visualizing my wife on my right shoulder saying, "Don't even think about it!" and Samson the Seahorse on my left shoulder, "You know you want all three . . ." |

The rods I cast were either final versions or very close to final because they were due to begin coming from Burkheimer in Nov. ('08). I wish I could
remember the details of each of the rods, but I really can't, except to say they were all typical Tom Morgan-style rods - smooth progressive actions
slightly on the slow side of medium. The 3-4-5 line rods were designed to cast well at moderate distances and weren't as fast as the comparable SF Winston
glass rods (which I'd call medium-fast) nor as slow as the Stalker rods (which I'd call medium-slow to slow).
I ordered the 8'3" 6 wt. so I can learn the Morgan Twitch streamer technique. The rod is designed so that the tip pulses to dart the streamer just right when the rod is bounced vertically.

I had the distinct honor and privilege of speaking with Mr. Morgan today on the phone. I was pleasantly surprised when he personally took my call. (What a
great man!)
He said that the blanks are coming along well and that they are now in the final stages of working out the details of the finish to get it "just right". |

From Tom Morgan's website:
"The fiberglass blanks are taking longer to deliver than anticipated. Hopefully they will be available in May. I apologize for any inconvenience." |

I am really looking forward to casting and fishing reports and thoughts on these blanks whenever they are released and a few builds are made. I am expecting
stellar posts.
