POOR SHOELESS "HUCK" TRICKY
Lucky the HARDY BOUGLE is hidden behind his head...and you can't see that he's casting a PHILLIPSON...but that HARDY gear bag might be a giveaway that Tricky isn't as destitute as he might lead us to believe. HA...

Cascapedia 2/3/4 was down to $224...but I waited for it to drop more. I wound up ordering one when it rose to $227. Good thing. The pound's recovering.
Same reel would cost $236 USD today. Now, I don't follow the Italian Lire's rates, but I'd suggest Tricky makes a move on some loafers soon!
Back to the reel. I ordered the reel figuring it had the weight to balance my Triple Apple. I figured the right weight without going over 3" in diameter is what was needed. Espaecially on a rod with a 5" grip. Even with leadcore and line, my TR1 just wasn't heavy enough. I was always leary of what would happen if I dropped it! LOL!

Y'all crack me up! I have been gone for a day and a half and I am glad I was gone. Cam is concocting some story about me owning all these lavish fishing
goods. I just want to state that what he said may have the slightest HINT of truth, but I need more.
Oh, I never really fancied myself a loafer guy, but you know, some nice leather dress shoes could go a long way in my foreseeable feature And I don't know who is spreading all the rumors about fishing time! I have been on the water ONCE in like a month. So many other ridiculous things get in the way.

I'm contemplating picking one up also. The $270 Canadian is attractive. It was mentioned that the 2/3/4 will take a 6 with line with a bit of backing.
Looks like it would be great for lakes and small rivers temed up with a 9 foot rod or maybe my Redwing bamboo.
Often I have been exhausted on trout streams, uncomfortable, wet, cold, briar scarred, sunburned,
mosquito bitten, but never, with a fly rod in my hand have I been in a place that was less than beautiful.

Just a couple of questions about this reel. On the small size Cascapedia 2/3/4 there is no drag system. Is the outside dial indicatorfor more pressure on the
click pawl? Trying to get a better handle on capacity and size, Is it about the same line capacity as the Pflueger President or a bit smaller.

Hi Doc,
it is the same click-pawl mechanism as on the JLH Ultralight (90s) and Sunbeam (70s). Turning the knob raises a cam which slides the yoke (like on the Marquis but push instead of pull because of the different spring design), which compresses the springs across the stanchion to increase tension and pay resistance. The range is extremely wide on this reel - extremely wide - more than you will ever need.

I deleted my last post because somehow folks misunderstood my points. Got a new Cascapedia MkII 2/3/4. GREAT REEL! Well made (clean inside and out) ; purrs
like a kitten and balances perfectly with my Fenwick 7'3" #3 (reason for the purchase). My criteria for judging a reel: craftsmanship; drag quality;
line management; weight (does it balance with a rod or two?). Aesthetics/looks are at the bottom of my list. Yes, the reel in my eyes is gaudy but I judge
reels by how they're engineered and function. I thought I owned some nice reels, but this one is a notch above any of them.

Received a wonderful package containing my Cascapedia MkII 2/3/4. Shipping from Harriss was very quick to Calgary Canada and it was well packed. I am very impressed. Hardy has not slipped in quality. These reels have the same high tolerances and craftsmanship as any in the i have seen in thier line. The drag is excellent with great range, and when I closed my eyes and wound, the reel gives a great click and prawl sound. Reminds me of my old St. Geroge but a bit quieter. I love the design which is a mix of old world and new. I put it on my Redwing bamboo and it looks great, It also complimented my fiberglass high-performance fly rods. I was a bit hesitant about the line capacity, with it's width it gobbeled up a 6 wt Rio double taper with enough backing to make me happy. Can't wait till sping and the first hatches. Glad I took advantage of the low UK pound and the 40% off.

Bulldog, I wouldn't let out that you are catching those underslung-mouth-trout on a Hardy reel. At the very least you could get blacklisted from further
purchases of Hardy reels, and if you put up another picture with almost anything with scales on it, they might come over and confiscate any other Hardy stuff
you have. You could stave that off by bargaining with the other two photos, which are very fitting, very fitting.

I like catching redhorse better than trout. They out-number the trout 20:1 in our tailwater, but the best you catch them is about 1:5.

I don't know whrlpool! That upside down trout bothers me! Must be from the land down under!
I have the same problem though. I usually fish alone. Just when I am getting ready to snap a picture the fish flips over! They must learn that at Trout U. |

That big lipped thing Ron landed is referred to as a "native" around here. Well, they're native to the stream. Besides, folks fishing here from
out of our region always seem impressed when you tell them about the fat "native" you landed.
