Casting action? Slow, medium, fast for glass? What other glass rod would you compare it (or contrast it) to?
Pics? Does it come with a rod sock and tube? I went to look up TFOs website. http://www.templeforkflyrods.com/rods/finesse.html It's weird. They throw in one glass model (6'9" 5-6 wt) in their line up of other IM6 models with the same name? They never mention the material during their description until the list of models available. Are they trying to sneak in a glass rod or actually market it? Many people here are fans of short 5 wts which is kind of a specialty rod, IMO; at $179, it looks like a good deal. |

A beautiful blank with a 'buttery smooth' action. The quartz series has exceptional loading properties that make it ideal for tight situations that demand a flexible rod. Models available

Doc, Its a reasonably fast rod for glass, I think I enjoy it more with a 5 wgt DTF. It's size makes it ideal for smaller tighter streams around here.
Handled a 3 1/2 lb' brown with ease (as it should) the other evening. It comes with a sock and tube as do all TFO rods. It's been around for a while
now. I understand it was originally mean't as a starter rod, but there was so much interest they "mainstreamed" it so to speak. Go into the
"collecting glass rods" forum on this site and do a search for TFO and there is a 4 or 5 page thread on the TFO glass. It should tell you verything
you need to know.
Taniwha, I have not used or seen the Quartz so can't comment, although I have used some other (carbon fibre) rods made on CTS blanks and if they are anyhting to go by I would see no problem with the Q. |

Here y'are Cameron. From this morning before the heat of the day: A smidgeon over 5 1/2 lbs. I have an idea this is the second time I have landed this fish
this season. First time was opening morning and he was a smidgeon under 5 1/2 lbs. Same bit of water. He was my second largest fish from this stream then - so
either way, he still is now!
One of the better small stream fish of the season.. And the TFO glass handled it very well. #14 Brown Dun did the job second cast. He was in the flatter water to the left of centre. About knee deep. You can see a little streamet on the right below the tree. I was just back from there. The fish was feeding out near the centre and up a bit. Water is very low and clear and he was the only one landed, spooked three others in the 3 - 4 pound range in other places. A couple were one cast fish. Thats all you get most of the time. One cast and thats it. Gone. If you could hear this picture it would be the sound of Cicadas. Lots and lots of Cicadas.
Another view of my home stream.. Spooked a yearling red deer from the bank side here a couple of months back.
And another favoured spot for an evening rise - if there is one.
