I was going to remove two screws to get inside to see what the problem is.Now I found out that one of the screws will not come out. I have used wd-40 and another penetrating oil over a few days to no avail. Any ideas? Mike

Sport Posts: 30 (12/06/08 17:50:57) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I'm no expert but I had some frozen screws that came loose overnight after soaking with penetrating oil overnight. I also soaked a bit of rag and placed it over the well soaked screw head. Old trick my dad showed me. Give it a try. Penetrating fluid is a very low viscosity oil. If you can't find the commercial stuff Canola Oil will work in a pinch. I like to warm the oil a bit to add to the viscosity. Often I have been exhausted on trout streams, uncomfortable, wet, cold, briar scarred, sunburned, mosquito bitten, but never, with a fly rod in my hand have I been in a place that was less than beautiful.

Sport Posts: 52 (12/08/08 19:40:46) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I've worked on, repaired, rebuilt, upgraded (One Pfoot parts) hundreds of Medalists over the years and can't remember one time when a latchcap screw couldn't be coaxed out. Never have had to drill retap one but it's not a complicated repair and original screws are available. The @!# on these reels is a stuck disc drag pawl under the drag ring. Sometimes the pawl doesn't survive the extraction but no big deal to replace it and the spring. Regards, Bob Fly Supplies aflyshop.com
