All,
Barry gave me two rods to let Jeff Wabash1967 to try out. Both are forecast blanks. one is a five foot configuration (not pictured) and the other is a six footer. Although these loaners were intended to entice Jeff into a shorter kayak rod, instead I bit.
I prefer this Tadpole 6 foot rod with DT5 Cortland ten meter line. For some reason the rod and line respond well together -better than WF 4 or WF5. I went out Saturday before the oncoming IKE and cast it. Wow it threw laser beams; in fact, with as little effort as possible I made it roll cast like a dream. For me a creek fisherman, this is the perfect tool for tight spots and the typical heavy cover. Many here consider the six foot Phillipson to be one of the best made for this purpose, and I agree, but Barry created a good one. Here's some photos:
Note the burled cork mini butt
Forecast blank rated 4/5 or could be configured for spin/cast
