Absolutely awesome! Excellent rod work there! I plan to build my little girl a rod in the future- can't wait though she's only 7 mos. old so I have a
bit of time.
What blank is that? IS that one of the Seeker fiberglass spinning blanks that someone asked about a long time ago on this board? What line does it throw? Lastly- do you have a source for that blank? Thanks! Lou |

Lou yes that is the Seeker fiberglass spinning blank but I don't know where it was ordered from. Mountain Shark will have to answer that question. I just got the line spooled up last night so I haven't had a chance to cast it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it works well with the 5wt line as that pink purple line only comes in 5wt or 8wt sizes. |

Nice- thanks Jeff. I'll have to poke around for those Seeker blanks until Mtn. Shark chimes in. Please post a follow-up as to how the rod handled that 5wt
line.
Thanks, Lou |

Couldn't resist. Stopped on the way home tonight at a favorite little bog pond that has a nice amount of room for casting. Rod performed nicely but way faster than the Phillipson 7 footer I have been using lately. This blank has a definete tip flex action too. A 6 weight would probably load it a little deeper and slow it down. The five weight line shot out fast and was able to place the little nymph delicately on the pond surface. If only all those bluegills and crappies would have just left that darn fly alone I could have gotten some more casting in |

That looks lovely, your daughter is lucky to have such a nice fly rod to fish with. Mike did a great job, the wraps look gorgeous! looking forward to some cape
bluegill and crappie pics caught with it.

Sounds like it will make a great 6wt. This could be the answer to those folks looking for a short 7' 2pc 6wt at a fair price. This is the SP700 seeker
blank and mudhole.com has them for about $50.00. Not a bad deal for those who lack the ferruling skills to make the Forecast blank into 2pc- me being in that
group. Besides- the Forecast 7' blanks would build into 8wts most likely.
Thanks for the report. Lou |

Lou I am not sure of the exact blank model actually I think we need to get that info from Mountain Shark to be sure. |

Nice looking rod. MS is another great rod builder with imagination and outside the box thinking.
Hope she's happy with it and hands it down to her kids. In the distant future I mean. |

Thanks for the kind words. Lou is right on the money, it is a Seeker 7' 1-4 wt line, 1/32to3/16 oz spin blank. Depending on who's number system you go
by it is a fsp700B by Anglers Workshop or an SP 700 from some of the other companies. The reel seat is Bellinger and the wood is stabilized and dyed maple, the
snake guideds are Snake Brand and the Stripper is American Tackle, the finish is 2 coats of U40 LS Supreme. The grip is 6 inches long, cork and burnt burl
caps, the guide spacing is 3-7/8, 8-1/4, 13-7/16, 19-1/4, 25-1/4, 31-11/16, 38-15/16, 47-13/16, 57-7/8. I got the blank from Anglers Workshop, but I know that
several of the major distributors carry Seeker blanks.
Now onto the fun part! I test cast the rod with a double taper 5 wt and fell in love with the fast action it had. I would bet that this blank could be built into a smoken fast 4 wt, a hot rod 5 wt or a slow 6 wt. A lot is going to depend on how a person casts, what distances they fish and what type of action they want. If you build one, keep in mind, Seeker blanks are know for having faster actions. All in all, I think this blank is going to be a big hit if people start using them. |

Thanks for the feedback mountainshark. Sounds like a winner to me for sure. Just another good option in the outside the box category of blanks. A 2pc 7'
5/6/7 wt might be in order for me this winter using this blank.

YES! That is what I am talking about! I can't wait to get my little girl Sophia on the water- although I should focus on her learning to crawl and walk
first.
Still- it's exciting to think that if all goes well, I'll have a built in fishing partner some time in the near future. Lou |
