Here are a few shots of a 7/5 ft 3 pc 3/4 wt rod that I built from a Steffen S-Glass blank. The reel seat is from REC with a chestnut insert; the reel is my
Orvis Battenkill from the 1960s. The label is shown because of the wrapping; I wanted a spiral trim to give a retro feel. The stripper is a Mildrum guide
(the rest are Snake brand snakes) showing the wrap I used on all the guides; the ferrule wraps continue the retro feel with the spiral trim. I'm taking
this rod out tomorrow as the dry fly action is really HOT!

I like Mark Steffen's blanks. They have a very smooth med-fast action. I like the look of the spiral (unsanded) blank, but a customer chose a McFarland
blank because he didn't like the look at all. After building him a McFarland rod I didn't really notice the difference in action. If anything, the
McFarland was slightly faster. I'll post photos when he gives the rod back to me for a day. Thanks for the compliments on the wraps and decals.

I'm not that big a fan of jasper thread but that color on that blank along with the rest of the build is very nice. Classy.
