Graphite is "more sensitive" in that it transmits small vibrations more readily, but with a benefit of little value. For all the sensitivity characteristics important in fly-fishing, I think fiberglass has a more useful range of sensitivity--pulses in the current, the feel of the cast or in mending line, the lunges of a fish being played and so on. It's a little simplistic as a technical explanation, but essentially the stiffness of graphite transmits small vibrations more rapidly. 'Glass mutes these a bit, so feel is a secondary signal on small motions of the fly along the bottom or very light takes, but good line management and watching the motion of the line is the primary visual indicator, a skill many graphite anglers have never developed. In the rest of the range of responsiveness and useful sensitivity, 'glass is preferable to me. I'd parallel this to the use of extreme high performance tires in most street and highway driving. They are immensely sensitive to "steering input" as the techies call it, but at the expense of other traits more important in normal, or even spirited driving on public roads: ride comfort, noise, smooth stability, and useful road feel. Take graphite if you have to feel a fly drag or touch bottom, or feel a fish "nibble" it, which they rarely do. Take 'glass to deliver and manage the fly, watch where your line goes so you always know exactly where the fly is. If the line pauses, lift up. Besides that, you will usually know when a fish slaughters an effectively fished fly, so this narrow band of sensitivity of graphite is seldom of value.
