length?
softness vs. stiffness (slow vs fast)?
s-glass vs e-glass?
My sense about this is that a shorter, softer rod will be more sensitive to a fish's fight than a longer, stiffer one. Think of a Fenwick FF79 vs an FF856. . . .or your choice of other makes. But what about a light, stiff material? I can't compare my 8 ' 4 wt Fisher Original graphite rod to any of my glass ones because the graphite is a 4 wt, and my glass rods are 5/6 and 6/7, or, in one case, 7/8. I would think that for any given weight a stiffer material would transfer more vibration than a softer one. But you feel the "bounce" of a slow rod right into the handle
Frankly, my most sensitive 5 wt is my HDH rated Phillipson bamboo!
So, what do you figure?
Peter
