A pretty cast
the line curving just so the fly gently graces the
surface of the side channel.
On the far shore a heron glides.
It seeks a meal and alights in tall grass.
Grasshoppers disappear one by one, protein for a bird.
Zip goes the leader as a wild rainbow inhales the soft hackle
The rod bends with vigor and the angler gleefully shouts.
Released in easy water, the trout glides away.
I wish I could paint, but my memory will suffice.
