I have an OC 90 that's in good mechanical shape but looks like hell. I decided to refinish it using the Krylon Hammered finish paint (black) that I stumbled upon last month. I really like this paint for reel refinishes because its ability to hide a lot of the imperfections that are in the old reel frames.
Anyway, I thought I'd put a photo Tutorial together on how I do a typical refinish job on a reel.
The first two photos will give you an idea of how beat-up the finish was.
These next 2 photos show the reel after the old paint was stripped off
This is a photo after the reel frame was primed
These next 3 photos is what the reel came out looking like when it was finished
All things considered, I'm pretty happy with the results!
