New guy here, live in Boston, grew up in NH and fish up there quite a bit. Salters (sea run brook trout) and landlocked salmon are my favorites but I also fish
for the regular New England stuff, trout, stripers, blues.

WetFlyAction,
Welcome to the Fiberglass Flyrodders! There are quite a few forum members in New England, so I'm sure there will be another Northeast Clave in the not too distant future. If you get a chance to post some photos of some your fishing successes, that would be great. For some reason, we don't get to see too many salters or bluefish on this forum. Tom |

Hello,
I am fishing (since 3 years) mainly in the Alpes in France in trout streams. I am reading the forum for about a year now (A lot of good advices!) and went to fiberglass following the set of teasing articles of TroutUnderground. I now fish mainly a Steffen 8' 3/4 wt on dries fies. I am probably looking forward to add a Scott F 3wt as I like the graphite ones (A2 and S3) a lot too. Arnaud |

nnf...welcome to Fiberglass Flyrodders! I will look forward to future posts and photos of trout fishing in the Alpes. I fished my Scott "F" three
weight yesterday and it really is a capable little rod.

Another New Englander here - although I've had the opportunity to find some nice fishing in North Carolina, Colorado and the Keys - primarily MA and NH.
Thought I'd post a few photos of the water I think about when I'm not there. Tight lines to all!

Frank,
Welcome! I've fished the Saco and Ellis Rivers but never the Androscoggin. Would like to do so. I understand the Alder Fly hatch is something special. Lou |

Hi Lou,
Indeed, the Alder Fly hatch is incredible. I remember the first time I experienced it (I think it was the last week of June), I had no idea that something like that took place there or anywhere. The air was so darn thick with them. Incredible event, especially on a large body of water - seeing so many fish turned on by the hatch - but it sure didn't make the fishing easier. Great fun! Hi Cameron, You can't see it in the photo because I wanted to quickly hold him up but that trout had a huge belly! I remember I had on a Bronson 360 and between the current and fish that old red Bronson got a workout. A great "drag challenged" reel! When I've visited the in-laws In NC I've made it out to the Davidson and the Tuckaseegee River. I'll probably have a little more time there this summer and I hope to find some nice warm water fishing as well. Any suggestions around Taylorsville/Hickory are welcome! Best |

Lou, I forgot to ask - which did you like better - the Saco or the Ellis? I've read a little on both but I've never fished them.
Thanks. |

It's been a while, but I found the Ellis, or maybe it was the Peabody River, more "cordial" to an unfamiliar fisher. I found the Saco a bit
overwhelming. Fished them alone with nothing more than some advise from the owner of Northern Angler and a hatch chart. I did, however, experience a unique
situation on the Saco: a "school" of un-opened cans of Mountain Dew came rushing downstream at my feet. Must have been from an over-turned canoe
further upstream - manage to "catch" one for a nice refreshment break.

I'm from Dallas, Tx and a new member to the forum. I have been fishing glass for about 20 years now. It all started when I read an article in
Flyfisherman magazine by Ed Shenk, "Jewel of the Headwaters" (I later found out this was chapter 10 in his book, Fly Rod Trouting). Ed wrote about
fishing with a one pc. 5' fiberglass fly rod and I was absolutely enthralled. I was in 8th grade at the time. I asked for a flyrod the following
Christmas, and the rest is history. I am originally from Amarillo, Tx. The mountains of New Mexico is where I learned to fly fish. Mostly in the Pecos
Wilderness for wild cutthroat and brookies. My first love is fly fishing small streams for wild trout. The problem is, there aren't too many wild trout
streams in the Dallas area. However, you would be surprised at the number of streams running through Dallas proper that hold nice bass and bluegill. My
favorite places to fish in my area: Dangerfield State Park - beautiful scenery and plenty of chain pickerel, The Paluxy River, The Brazos River, White Rock
creek and I make the occasional trip to the Texas hill country and Texas coast for reds and specs. My weapon of choice is a Steffen 8', 4 wt. I fish this
rod to a fault when I probably should be using a heavier rod, but dang, that rod is a lot of fun. I have truly enjoyed reading the posts on this site and look
forward to getting to meet some of you guys who share my passion for glass rods.

FLY FISHING....WHAT ELSE?? | ||
|
I'm a local in Seattle Washington. My main fly fishing is still waters. I have been fly fishing /tying for 42 years! I have built aound 30 graphite fly
rods, a 6"8" one man plywood pram, carved fish in wildlife carving competitions and have a decent "collection of new and old fly gear." I
live close to salt water so I chase sea run cutts and resident silvers with flys. I have been lucky enough to fish Alaska for 17 years with my dad and my son
has gone with us the last 9 years! What a blast!! I fish for what ever swims! I trout fish mainly with 2 and 3 wts. I have an 8' Philipson my cousin built
for me when he worked for Schoff's tackle in Kent Wash. back in the 60's, fun rod.
For the past three years I have been a member of the Puget Sound Fly Fishers club in Tacoma Washington. Currently we have 175 members and it's been great meeting and fishing with others like us. I'm always looking for new waters and new/classic gear. ALWAYS ROOM FOR MORE! |
