I've been meaning to post a little report on this rod. Richard enlightened me on where it fell in the Conolon story a while back in another post and I have
now fished it three times, first time fishing glass. It was originally sold as a kit with a Mitchell reel that was of a problematic design. I paired it with a
1495 medalist which it looks great with and balances perfectly.
I also used it with a modern reel and a sink tip line. The Ross balances it well also. This is the Lower Colorado River just East of Austin, TX.-
Those are American White Pelicans, scores of them. I
have never seen them before, only the gray variety common in the Gulf and Carribean but apparently they are fairly common and spend winter here on the river,
this was the earliest in the season that I have been so an added treat. Drum roll please- ...and first fish on glass!
One of the things this rod does is handle big fish effortlessly.
Can't wait to try it at the coast. OK, I drug this buffalo up hooked through the tail but still a fun little fight-
This is Cherokee Creek- It rises in Cherokee, TX and drains into
the Colorado R. at Bend, TX.. My friends own about 2 miles of it and the fishing is superb. I dredged the deep hole from the opposite bank and caught Bass,
Crappie, Gaspargoo and Perch
Healthy Bass. I didn't have the camera for the big bass of
the day but I swear he was a 3 lb. smallmouth, not bad for a creek.
Those are carp fry, there are some monsters in there.
This section of the creek reminds me of a trout stream in the hole below this run I even found some White Bass.
7 species and counting, I'll give this rod the big thumbs up.
Max ps I apologize for the image size and text/image orientation. First attempt at posting photos here and it was painstaking to put it mildly- Max
