That's a sweet deal and a super sweet reel. I snagged the X-stream in the same size this summer, like the one Ron posted pics of. For $129, I shoulda got two! You shoulda too Ron! The TR2 spools are $119. The spools are interchangeable. If you watch Ebay, a number of TR1 and TR2 are popping up with a starting bid of $165 + $12 to ship. They're Dutch auctions, so you'll be able to snag one at that price. Pricey? I think it's a good value for that reel. I also beleive they're easily the equal to ( probably better) of a Hardy Lightweight; Orvis CFO or Islander IR. Considering that, they're great reels for a great price. Try to get a fair looking used Hardy for that money.Only downer is trying to find spare spools at a good price. Don't worry though. Abels' still offering spools.
if you're prone to fall or drop reels, they're you're absolute best choice.
I've had my clutzy days, but I dropped my X-Stream 3 times from about chest-height onto a concrete floor. Not on purpose, and don't try this at home.
It didn't dent, it didn't mark. Abel has used modern materials and finishing processes to make a reel that is as indestructible as technically possible.
