Terrific start BD, will follow with a few of my own shortly. Box papers provide the ultimate baseline.

I have a feeling this thread could grow quickly.

Here's the Martin '79 catalog for whrlpool. These are my first image posts so they're a bit large and the quality varies, I'll work on my editing.

I'll just post the conventional click-pawl and disc drag reels from the catalog, not the automatics, rods etc. It's a forty-page catalog so if someone is looking for a specific item, PM me and I'll post if I can.

If placement in the catalog means anything, Martin was really pushing the new MG series and multipliers in '79, which are on the first few pages- the old tuna can series (Models 60-66) don't appear until page 9, just before the automatics.

Everyone has their preferences but for me, this period was Martin's zenith in terms of what I prefer about their vintage reels.

(Now, if I could only afford that 60's-era Martin catalog currently on eBay...)

















And here's a box paper for a Tuffy Model 64, the only paper I own that was in Martin's "letterhead" format and not the smaller folded type:

Thanks for the Ross, Young, & Thompson papers! Fantastic. And generally a whole lot more colorful and eye-catching than the Martin papers... What was with the Martin Company's graphics department- color-blind, or just cheap?

Still, whrlpool asked for a Martin 70's disc drag box paper. Here's the only one I have, which is really a folded ad for a "Fly-Safe" fly box that came with various reel models, but which does feature a No. 70 as one of the "Headache Cures for Fishermen"...

I've had some nice PM comments and emails about how great it's been to see box and catalog papers- some for the first time- by folks who own the gear that didn't include the papers.
