I have to agree with the folks here, the Fenwick should be your first go at it. If you like the shorter feel of your UL rods, Fenwick made several true 5wts at 7ft and 7 1/2ft, if you like your rods a bit longer, they had a couple of true 5wts at 8ft as well. Be advised that in each of those lengths they also made alot of 5/6wt rods as well. Depends on how you like your rod to feel in hand. Sense most glass rods can be fished a line or even too under or over suggested line weight I would suggest you start with the true 5wts, at least for me they are good rods at 5wt, the slightly heavier rods seem to fish best at 6wt and some even will feel good with a 7wt line on.
Another to watch for would be one of the discontinued Diamond Glass rods, the 8ft 4wt and 8ft 5wt rods I have are real jewels, a bit more expense running around $200 and up a little in good used condition. There were several really nice Browning Silaflex rods with glass ferruling made for your line weights in 7-7 1/2-8ft models, all are excellent examples running $100-200 in excellent condition. The Lamiglas Rod company made many many factory glass rods in your 5wt some are awsome and show up now and then, price ranges again run around $100-200 for the better ones in 5wt. There were quite a few others like the Cortland FR2000 series with glass ferrules and even some Gladding South Bend rods made with glass ferrules.
Sense your already familiar with fly fishing I think you would be better served to stick to glass ferruled rods at least at this stage. There were of course many many glass rods produced of varying qualities with metal ferrules, but in all honesty, like bamboo, its an aquired taste and like bamboo, the action might in many cases be too slow for your tastes at this point.
Guess thats why so many of us suggested the Fenwicks for your first go at it, most are very good medium action full flexing rods that easily transition a guy till he decides which why he wants to go. Along that line of reasoning, once you know exactly what you want in glass it will be easy for you to tell one of the many great glass custom rod makers to produce your dream rod, pretty much at the same price range your now paying for a decent Graphite rod.
Good luck, and as someone already said, glass rods are like potatoe chips, you cant have just one.

True enough but remember they are premium rods, and do you want a 6wt glass rod? your earlier feelings were your 5wt graphite wasnt doing what you wanted. A really good 5wt glass rod will handle a 6wt line easily, at leas the good Fewnicks will, and it will give you a good idea what your looking for at 1/5 or less what a custom rods is gonna cost you. Go a bit slower, try a couple of really decent glass rods, like the folks here have told you, a guy can pickup 4 or 5 decent ones for what one McFarland or Steffen rod will cost you and without the wait. Plus you can sell the ones for little loss that you didnt like and find out exactly what you want before you order a custom built rod. Remember a glass classic rod rated 6wt might not load the way you want it to until you overline it with a 7wt line. Most glass is so flexable and limber that unlike graphite you might feel its not loaded properly for you until you overline it a weight or even 2, thats glass, it can take it and put a smile on your face. Try some vintage glass before you spend the big bucks.
