I already have the Rio in a 3 wt, and I noticed that nail knots rip the coating off. What's the best way to attach the leader on this line?

Airflo Tactical WF Or Rio Selective DT |

I'm thinking about getting one of these lines in a 6 wt. Which do you prefer?

Don't currently own either line but I'll second the zap-a-gap recommendation. I used it on all my 3,4,5 wt lines this year and loved it. If you like
loop to loop jgestar has a killer zap-a-gap loop tutorial somewhere on the site. You can make the tiniest, knotless ultra smooth loops with zap a gap.

If you decide on the Selective Trout II, keep an eye out for clearances. The line has been replaced by the Trout LT, and the DT version has a much different
profile (more like a traditional DT, with the fat part in the middle, rather than wasp-waisted, like the Selective Trout DT's). The Trout LT WF version has
been redesigned, as well, with a longer head and taper profile. As for knots, I never use a standard nail knot anymore with typical PVC over braided core
lines--always some form of needle knot or epoxy splice.

Both lines are on sale. The Rio Selective Trout II is still on clearance at several places. The Airflo Tactical Trout is just starting to be discounted at a
few places. Bob Marriot said Airflo is redesigning the coating.

I thought these lines were looped?
Tough comparison, though - I own both lines and like them both. I guess I prefer the DT on softer tapers/longer rods and the WF on crisper/shorter rods.
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

I ordered the Airflo from Cabelas. They have it on sale for $40 in the bargain cave.

I already have one in the 4 wt. You may need to cut back the tip section to get it to float properly, but it is a very nice casting line.

I fished the new line on my FF79 yesterday, and it really brought the rod to life. My only complaint is that the welded loop sinks. I was hoping that this
wouldn't happen with the larger diameter line.

Airflos are really good lines and they're looped now. One bit of advice from a long time Airflo user: untangle mono off of it with caution. They are
susceptible to being cut with mono.

OK - I just has two zap-a-gap connections fail on Airflo! The line tore away leaving only the braided core. I tied the leader on and the same thing happened.
WTF? I used the exposed core, 6/0 thread and super glue to make a loop end. This better work. Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks Doug. I'll give it a try.

I used a needle knot and didn't have any problems with the coating stripping off.
