I fished my fenwick with the 4WF sharkskin line today and had no problem. I plan to fish it with a 3 DT soon to see if it is a 3weight rod too.

Bill,
Good call- I was told that this rod is really a 3/4 and feels more overlined with 5wt. I'd be interested to hear how it performs. Les |

Bill,
What letter does the serial no. on that start with? Wondering about the year it was made. My recent (8 yrs. ago?) 5'3" Fenglass is marked 4 or 5, and I always use a 4. But I only use it in very tight cover, with short casts. I know it will handle a 4 well at linger distances. Bob |

It is FF535. there is a discussion on the ultralight fly fishing board about this rod being use as a 3 WTF rod. since i don't have a 3 wt line I used the
4 wt line i use now. I plan to buy & try a 3 wt line soon.
Today i used the Fenwick 756 with the 4 wt line and I had no casting problems.

I was trying to place that within the generation of the FF535 model; the serial no. helps to do that (actually, just the letter that starts the long number).
My FF756-4 (four piece) is a very versatile rod when it comes to lines; which is best pretty much depends on use (although I'd guess 4 wt. would be as lisght as I'd be willing to go). As I recall, its serial no. of Rxxxxxx places it about 1978. Bob |
