High Water and High Mountain Wild Trout (now with link to Smokies Fishing trip) |

I didn't use my glass rod this day. The water was high, and my glass rod, a 6'6" Lamiglass Honey, just wouldn't have been up for the task. I
guess I could have taken my feartherlight, but my 9' Scott G 3wt won out. Anyways I figured some of you may enjoy the video.

matt...do you fish in the Pisgah Forest area much? I make a few trips up there in the fall and winter. We should link up. Also...are you planning on meeting
up with us on the Smokemont trip next weekend?

dpenrod, that is Acoustic Syndicate doing their Brown Mountain Lights. They have some excellent albums and you can download some of their live shows at

Cameron, I fish it and the GSMNP as much as I can. I have actually tossed around the idea, even talked to Upsteream via PM on the other forum about it, but I don't know if next weekend will work for me. I'm going to fish Hazel creek this weekend so I'd probably be treading on thin ice with my wife going fishing 3 weekends in a row. Especially since she just gave me the green light to go back to Wyoming this summer. That said I may try to make it over for part of the day. I would love to cast some of the glass rods that ya'll have. If not email me next time you are coming up mcwoodley@gmail.com

matt, very nice, and that was one fine run of water you were fishing. I recognized that music, and I think it is these guys that I found in Mammoth Springs,
Arkansas.
No, not really, just having some fun. This band sort of sounded like the mama's and papa's, in a bad way!! Fly fishing is not the only part of the adventure!!

Armyflyfisher,
That is Loretta Lynn's High On a Mountain Top from Van Lear Rose which to date is her last release that is not a compilation. Strangely enough Jack White from the White Stripes produced it, plays guitar, piano, and percussion on it. Great album, I'm not really into county or at least nouveau country. Other country artist should take heed. |

I'm glad everyone is enjoying it!
Cameron, it was all taken with my Pentax W80. I bought it this past summer for a family vacation to Yellowstone. I have been very pleased with the pictures and videos that it takes. It takes HD 720p video. Admittedly that is resolution and not necessarily quality, but for a HD on a small waterproof, drop proof camera I am more than satisfied. I'm using Sony Vegas to edit and make the video. I have the Adobe products but have found the Sony is much easier and quicker to work with I planned on posting a full report on the trip I just made over in the Smokies, but I suppose some pictures can tell a thousand words. The short of it was the water was still higher than normal, the fishing was spectacular, and I'm still sore from hiking with more gear on my back than I care to admit to. I was too busy fishing and trying to wade the high water to get enough video worth posting. I do have some pretty good pictures from the trip on my "beta" website you can view them and my Yellowstone pictures here: http://ashevillesolutions.com/matt/photo-blog.html There is also a small review I wrote on the camera on the site. I doubt I will make it over to Smokemount this weekend. The weather should be absolutely beautiful. There is still some color in the park if the rain hasn't washed it all away. Hopefully the streams will recede some by then as well. Cheers, Matt PS sorry I used my 5wt G on this trip. I guess I need to expedite that glass purchase, the glass I own wouldn't have been the right tool for the task.

Great video Matt. I really enjoyed it. Pisgah is a truely wonderful place.
Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time. |
