Now see there your've put another one on my shopping list Ron. Did your reel come with that Hardy Leather case or is it one of your vintage collectables, it sure matchs up with that reel for sure. So where can I find that reel Ron and are they still available? Is it made by Hardy or? sure is a sharp looking reel for sure.

This is the little Korean Made 3 1/4 inch Bougle I selected for my new Bamboo Rod





Its bigger brother the 3 1/2 inch also made in Korea






Here's my first one, sort of like potatoe chips, once you've tried one you have to try another this one is a little 3 inch
English made Special Order Bougle, the frame is a deep British Racing Green Anodization, the rest is a soft gold color,
just about a perfect match for 10k gold







Ive got a 3 1/4 inch just like it but the frame is a dark Royal Blue with the pale gold contrasts in the mail and
working on a third larger 3 1/2 inch in still another color combination. These little reels are like watches, very
very well made. Being a lover of the older Japanese made Marryat Reels and their precision fit, I can say these
bougles both Korean made and the English made are just as precision made.

Hopefully before another week goes by the Blue one will arrive and I'll add the pictures. Also hoping that my first
modern English made LHW Hardy Perfect will arrive soon too.

Hi Ron, so where do you suggest I look to find one of the current Repros? By the way thanks for the info on the Korean made Bougles, I checked the outfit out, checked their prices vs anything else I could google and found them to be the lowest and most reliable. They were my choice for Korean Bougles to actually be fished alot.
I like that St George you have there, and frankly am not that concerned what color the agate is, right now I feel is the time while the Dollar is realatively strong to buy, as with the Perfects, Im hoping to corner three by the end of this month in the current offerings in LHW. I think the English made reels will turn into true collectables soon enough.

Guys Ive been working with my son and now grandsons sense they were all born. My son has two sets of double shotguns, a complete 5 piece set of Ithica's from the late 60s when the doubles were comming in from Japan, heavily engraved and silver plated. he also has a two gun set of Browning doubles when they were bringing them in from Japan about the same time as well. Likewise he's right handed, he has some very good vintage rifles as well. As to the grandsons, thus far Ive had a custom rifle made for each one. Based on some salted away Mauser Banner Standard Modell 98 actions Ive had salted away sense the late 50s and early 50s. Each has been extensively worked over to include a Manlicher butter knife bolt handle and set trigger, tapped for modern scope mounts and barreled for some classic calibers for each child. 6mm Rem Ack Imp., 257 Roberts Ack Imp, 7mm Mauser Ack Imp, and the last one now has one for 308 win. All are full stocked Manlichers and all are equipted with Leopold 2 1/2 power premium scopes.
My son has the Chipmunk I had custom made for him when he was a child fresh from the factory when they were first introduced, as well two minty Winchester 52s when they can handle the larger heavier guns. He has is first Shotgun too, a custom stocked single shot hammerless Winchester shotgun, 20 gauge, with the barrel cut off to 20 inches and removable chokes.
Im a south paw so if any of the kids end up being so inclined they will reap the super bonus, my guns.
Hay you can leave grandkids money, or you can leave them something personal, I would rather build them a fishing rod and a good reel or give them a good rifle than leave them a few bucks that they will never remember.

The Bougles were a great deal, I picked several, and in comparision to the English made late model they are perfect, at the price I picked them up for they will end up being well fished reels for generations.

The 257 Roberts has been a favorite rifle of mine for over 50 years, I got my first Deer in Utah with one in the early 50s one of the early Savage 99s originally chambered for the early 308 and rechambered and barreled for the 257. Im a south paw so few lefties were available back then. On the positive side its a pack rifle with detachable barrel so its quite nice in its leather case for traveling. My father had a double lever side mount put on and a Lyman Alaskan 7/8inch 2 1/2 power with post and cross wire, still is a fun rifle.

My sons first rifle at was a Rugar 77 ultra lightweight 250 savage, he got his deer at 225 yards on the Edge of Yosemity at over 10,000 feet on a four day horseback trip that included thunder and lighting storms and over 12 hours a day on horseback. That same year he took a really nice silver tip brown bear way up on Thanksgiving weekend above Reno in Donner Pass in blizard with a custom Remington 600 in 308, dropped the big guy with one shot too. Both the deer (shoulder mount and the bear, full on wall mount rug mount) are proudly displayed amoung others in his living room.

Still have a couple more of those old Mauser Banner Standard Modell 98 actions and a few 03 springfields and FN mausers, and lots of barrels. Hell I think I have perhaps 25 actions and three times as many premium barrels still, I used to make up alot of rifles years and years ago. I like the Manlicher style, so have been concentrating on them over the last 25 years. Have some nice old antique premium Douglas Barrels that are nearly 50 years old for 358 and 35 Whelan, as well as one for the Ackley Improved 338/06 if the boys find a need.
Even the standard 257 is a great matchup though, Ive had alot of rifles for that one over the years, even being left handed.
Well guessing if you bought yours 5 years ago on Clarks then the price has gone up alot, but I will search for one, perhaps with all the warrantee cards hitting Hardy from me and the request for catalogues they will put me on their mailing list in time for the the next set of retro St Georges, right now Im concentrating on three of the smaller sizes of the current limited production run of LHW Perfects, so a little break in spending would be very acceptable.
