Yuku free message boards

Good question. I'm sure everyone sees these spam posts popping up on our forum. I deleted the guts of this one, but left the thread. This junk originates in China and the assholes that post it create a bunch of new Yuku and e-mail accounts everyday. They use the new accounts to spam the various Yuku forums. As near as the Yuku staff can tell, these posts are not made to directly generate sales. Instead, they establish links that influence the search rankings on services like Google and Yahoo. Slimey. Very slimey.

We average a couple of these posts a week - sometimes more, sometimes less. When our staff sees a spam post, we ban the perpetrator, delete him from our membership, and delete the post. But sometimes we don't see the post right away. We have anti-spam measures in place that limit, but not eliminate, the abuse. Some Yuku forums didn't set up properly and spammers inflicted serious havoc.

As long as Google and other search engines rely on their current search ranking system, we will have a constant drizzle of spam. Yuku has software that limits the damage a spammer can cause and we have measures in place, but there will always be a few posts before the software kicks in. If spam gets really bad in the future, we can make the forum "membership by application". But that would make it less fun for new members and more work for the moderators.
