For dry flies, I've gone to the "...new" George Harvey formula that starts with .015 and tapers down by .002; all in 18 inch increments till you reach 2X and then one foot segment of 3X prior to a 24" 4X leader or one foot of 4X prior to a 24 to 36" 5X tippet. This works quite well and gives the best drag free float I've seen. Lately, however, I'm marrying the idea of Borger and Harvey by starting with three feet of .015 followed by three feet of .011 and then the rest per Harvey's formula. So far, this seems to be working fine and is easier to tie.
If anyone has similar experience or ideas to share, I'd enjoy reading them and trying the ones that sound good.
