Just a heads up- Cummings glass |
Lead | |
|
Just thought I'd mention this - was exploring some sites this am and noticed that Bob Selb has just put up a 6'8" 3 wt. Cummings glass rod for
sale on his Classic Fly Fisherman website. (no personal interest) - I can't swing the buy right now, but thought others might be able to pull the trigger.

I just got off the phone with Bob. He posted it last night along with a Wojnicki glass rod and a Peak graphite. Both the Cummings and the Wojnicki rod sold
right away. He still has photos on his site. He told me that he's shocked what some glass rods are selling for. Bob said about 5 years ago he bought a
Cummings glass rod at a Fly show in the Catskills for $25 !!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, very nice ... very nice... beautiful...
The "shocking prices" are "the way it is," but too bad, imo, on some counts. Good thing that there are so many production glass rods out there to be enjoyed... Funny how a Fenwick is my favorite "go to..." Perhaps these prices will help us realize the "golden age" of glass that we have NOW with our current makers. Just finished out a 7'9" , 3-4, by a current maker for a friend of mine. Quality and action wise (perhaps not collectability wise) , I'll put that blank right up there with the "prior golden eras" that I've handled.... Beautiful rods though, and wonderful to see that nice work... Thanks for the post... NB Perhaps off the thread, but "here's to" one beautiful production reel seat (and still available):

What reel seat is that, and where is it still available, if you don't mind my asking. It's a beaut.

Thanks... Yes, it is - beautiful and available. General production Fenwick Glass Rods - at least available in G and H series that I enjoy and I believe
generally available in a very similar version earlier also. In the pic, it is hard to make out that Fenwick Eagle under the reel foot. Just always struck me as
nicely done.

Thanks for the information!
Looks like I'll have to keep an eye out for one of those. I wish those reel seats were available as new old stock somewhere. |
