I had posted these photos in rodbuilding and tackle tinkering but thought it appropriate to bump them up to collecting so that perhaps a different set of eyes would see them.
This is a LL Bean combo fly spin rod, 7 feet long 3.2 oz. and very definitely fiberglass. Came with a plastic Bean tube and brown rod sock in very good condition. Although I bought it locally, there was no history other than "it had always been around."
I've only lawn cast it, its indifferent with a 5 wt, but is incredible with a WF6F, hitting my fence that is usually reached only by my 8 and 9 wts. I have come to regard it as a fly rod with funny guides.
Bean didn't make its own rods during the fiberglass era. Can anybody suggest a maker and age for this nice piece of glass?
Thanks, Hayden
