Now I don't think I'll find one finer. OK...I could find one with a nicer looking box. HA...

Just when I thought I'd never handle a J. W. Young Valdex in nicer condition than the one that I had...I came across this one a few weeks ago.

I'll see your pefect reel and raise you a better photograph
Congratulations - you did great. I don't own this reel any more - traded it off, it was too liquid for me.
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

My most recent acquisition was a Valdex from Ron. It is not the one pictured, but a true beauty. It is paired with a Granger 9050 I got form Cofisher. I love
the setup. I need to post some pics soon!

Thanks for the comment fellows. I really do think that the Valdex is a special reel as far as design and aesthetics. The release cap can be a bit of a
tricky thing with these reels but they are worth that aggravation.
JeffSod...thank you for passing. I was really surprised to have won this reel. middlemac...I was certainly glad to pass along the Valdex to you...and your box is nicer by far. Raybow...this reel will be fished. I am not into collecting to collect. I am into collecting to fish. SJ...yes...we need to see your Valdex/Granger for sure! |

Ray just bought that beautiful green Condex I had listed - I can't believe it sat there for so many months.

Bull, I can't believe it sat there for so many months either? But anyway fellers, Ron tells it like it is on what he's got. That Condex I got from him
( sorry Bull as I can't resist in telling the fellers that you let me have it for 65 bucks

Cameron, I'm putt'n it on a WM Sweetheart. I think It'l be perfect for the application.......... Bull is kind of like the 'Orange County
Choppers' in a fly fishing version. That's my perseption of him from the pics I've seen of Ron.. He fits the part

how many colors | ||

So guys how many colors did the Valdex come in? I picked up this nice 3 inch recently its a really nice tight reel in medium gray, not the paint on the foot.

Richard...what's you've got is the only color Valdex's came in from the factory. Yours looks to be in great condition. The biggest concern with
these reels is that release cap. I can see the spring on yours edging out from the cap making me wonder if it is a tight fit or not. Might take some tweaking
to ensure that it won't fall off when on the water.
A little information from the J. W. Young catalog...

Thanks for the info Cameron, from the pictures I thought most were a darker gray or black, mine appears to have had little or no use, the spring is nice and
tight too. Although the previous owner or someone along the line took out the pawls, so I got the reel for a song, took a pawl out of a pridex and a beaudex
and both fit perfect. Hopefully Bulldog has a couple of replacements I can get now I know what I need. Ive quite a few light glass project rods for this
winter, (1-4wts) so a few of my recent reel purchases will work out nicely including this little Valdex.

Richard...they are a neat match to fiberglass fly rods and have a look all their own. I think it will be perfect for a light line glass rod project.
Can't wait to see when you put it all together.

... that is a fine looking Valdex. I have one that is grayish in color as well. I like to pair it up with a 3 wt. rod. Wait a minute......I don't have
any 3 weight rods
