We returned to Fightingtown Creek in north Georgia (just south of Murphy, NC) for the weekend.
The water was up and the fishing was livelier than back in March. A fast, dark run in a bend below boulders
I really enjoyed breaking in the 3" Flymaster Junior that arrived from Ron last week, a great match for the Fenwick FF756 4pc. Ron worked his usual magic
on this wonderful, tight reel, including switching it back to RHW for this Leftie

The bag is Recycled Wader's Nook Sack, nicely-made and it was really ideal for the short hikes from the cabin where a lot of
spare gear wasn't in demand

Also fished Cameron's Valdex on the 756. The Flymaster was overmatched for the Fenwick FF605 six-footer seen here so I used an M63 with that one later on

Some shallower stretches over mostly gravel

Cold little feeder creeks everywhere
The rainbows weren't ginourmous here- topping out at ten inches- but they were plentiful

Beauglass' 6' Thread Trout furl was a pleasure to roll cast under the rhodos

Anne caught several 'bows and was all smiles

My friend Dexter releasing. His wife JoDel caught some pretty ones, too. We didn't keep any fish

It wasn't all work... we turned the hot tub into a cold tub...

... and had one of the locals over for a visit. He was after the swifts nesting in the chimney

Molly (center) and two buddies joined us on Saturday. She goes off to the College of Charleston in August

We ate well. Dexter's onion rings, double-battered and fried in peanut oil. Yeah, we pretty much trashed the kitchen

I brought down new potatoes dug on Friday to go with the fine steaks JoDel grilled

We had hoped our friend's two-yr-old Golden could join us for the trip, but it wasn't meant to be. Mazie passed away in
May after an illness- a bittersweet part of an otherwise grand time with old friends

She loved to "fish," too
Hope to return soon to this hidden gem in the Georgia mountains
