Here's a pretty neat rod I finished recently that a few members here may be interested in seeing. My client had a NOS F. Claudio 910B blank that he wanted
built up for stripers... board member Duff had posted in the past pics of his original 910B and the grip/reel seat are more in line w/ a trout rod than a
saltwater rod. We wanted to keep the look of an original Claudio but beef up the grip, add a stabilized wood spacer, and attach a fighting butt. The wrap
pattern and colors were intended to match those of Claudio's original rods. The main wraps are an antique gold tipped in a light yellow. Note the double
back on the guide wraps, a classic Winston/Howells/Claudio touch (must be a Northern California thing!).
Much thanks go to Duff for providing me with the guide spacing and wrap lengths from his original rod. I'm not a huge fan of color preserved or bright wraps, but I think Claudio was on to something. On the brown blank, it's a very attractive pattern... now if i could only find a handful of blanks sitting around.... now i'm hoping to see some pics of stripers landed on this rod...
