Here's an interesting reel I picked up recently. A Shakespeare model 2560 fly reel, made in Japan, overall outside demensions, 3 1/4in by 1in.
The reel, with a baked on paint job in British Racing Green on the case and Silver spool was aquired in very good used condition.
What made it interesting for me, thinking it was a run of the mill Hardy knockoff, was upon removing the spool to clean it and flip the pawl to LHW. Ive not encountered this particular set of checkworks before. The reel has an on off clicker switch which engages and disingages the pawl against the spool. Much like a standard setup in operation, but with a spring and pawl setup. I must say the drag is quite well set for both RHW and LHW, there being a very gentle click on the takeup and a much stronger one when line is being played out. Overall a very nice and simple reel,does anyone know anything about this model?
