Having been an admirer or fiberglass for some time, one of my favorite things about this forum is that I get to look at all sorts of cool fiberglass rod porn
and see lots of rods I've never seen before. While I have rods I like to pull out to show friends that have refined earth-tone wrap colors and blanks in
bambooesque hues, I also have those that I keep a little further inside of my rod closet. The ones that the "traditionalists" of the time I'm
sure disdained. The ones that scream, "I'm fiberglass and I'm funky!" Perhaps you have a few of these rods hidden in the darker recesses of
your closet so the rainbow wraps can't be seen. Perhaps you keep a bright red South Bend hidden in the workshop and only visit it occasionally after one
or two nightcaps. I say, "Don't be ashamed." Proudly parade those ladies on your arm. Don't ever just reserve them for the private pond,
but let them fool all fish species in all locales. Cast them far and cast them fine. For, while it may sound conceited, there is nothing I've enjoyed
more in my fiberglass fishing adventures than having someone look down their nose and down their Sage at my avacado-colored Berkley with the maroon Pfleuger
until they look up to see me playing one they put down. I say, "Be proud, fish loud!" Let your freak-flag fly and post photos of those children of
the rainbow with the garish diamond decorative wraps. Post some photos of your painted ladies. Hide away no more for the truth shall set you free.

delkins wrote: Delkins - at first the conversation was obviously about glass fly rods, but towards the end I'm wondering if you're asking any of us to come out of the closet? Sounds like this should be a fun post. I guess I'm boring; I don't have any rods that fit the "drag queen" category. But I hope to see others' contributions. I know the rods you're talking about; at first, I'm like, "Egad! Bright green wraps, tipped w/ red, w/ gold mylar overlays on a milky white blank, topped off with a green aluminum reel seat?!" And as I look a 2nd time or two, I start to see charm in them. |

Dave,
Did you by any chance see the photo of the bright yellow Eagle Claw with mylar underwraps and a hokey medallion glued to the grip? The one at the top of the forum? Will that do for a start? I've got a couple of South Bends, Actionrods, and True Tempers that are "colorful" too. Tom |

They don't show very well here, but big wide pink wraps with cream tipping on a black blank makes me feel a little superfly when I fish with it. K |

That's what I'm talkin' about, K! Sweet St. Croix!
Here's a rainbow of Berkley's and a lone red South Bend. Lets see some white Wonderods I love the garishness of white glass. LOL. ....Ooohhhh....or a Berkley Cherrywood! Who's got a Cherrywood to post?

The Shakespeare is noticeable - but they still don't compare to the graphite Sage Smallmouth! | ||

I like the attitude- damn the fashion, this is fishing! I think my Smallmouth is about the "loudest" rod I own - and I definitely like it. But you
asked for a white Wonderod...

This has to be the best post I have ever seen on this site. I am wishing I had a freak flag rod now... Delkins, good job, I hope to see many more rods posted
in this thread now and in the future.

Tom: That particular Featherlight is classy looking...now the newer bright school bus yellow rods...
One of things I love/hate about my Wright Mcgill rods is the muli-colors. ![]()

Hey, thanks Spencer. Cornmuse, I take back everything I've ever said about you guys on the other side of the river. LOL. That's a beautiful outfit!
Awesome W&M collection, Cofisher! Too cool! -Dave |

Even Phillipson did colored rod blanks. I pulled this photo from the way back machine. They aren't as garish as the Berkleys, but the early 60s Master
does have mylar underneath and purple (yes, purple) guide wraps!

cofisher, if I see you out on the stream here in California with that W&M, I might have to bring out my Proposition 8 wt.

Nothing says I'm not fishing bamboo...I'm not fishing graphite than a bright white blanked Wonderod. I've fished a couple of them before and they
definitely get "The Look" from the $1,000 outfit set. Has made me smile all day to walk down to the river and pick off a few fish as they look on
shaking their heads.
My first fly rod was a Eagle Claw. Bright yellow, mylar wraps, "hooky" medallion on the grip, but end the end a serviceable fly rod. This was my do anything stick. To bad it went R.I.P. last summer after over a decade of very hard use.
In happier days on vacation in Michigan. Sigh. I miss this rod. |

Hi Guys;
I don't know, other than the rainbow wraps on the one rod Cofisher displayed, I think they all look good to me. If for some reason all these rods disgust you, I'll make the sacrifice and take them off your hands for a modest fee! Just kidding!! Wayne |

I think I'm with Wayne, good looking rods! Here are a couple that might be considered ugly. A Sportsman and an ASC Aquasport, don't know a thing
about either one.
Anyone know anything about them I'm all ears. Mike |
