You take one normal guy ( definitions may vary) have his boss give not sell but give which makes it even worse not one but 2 count then 2 lamiglas (fb91 6s) honey colored blanks. Then find this web site with you low life's on it. Talking about how good glass is how beautiful is then show pictures. There should be a law against that kind of stuff. Then on top of that I find a cream green wondrod for 7 bucks. And then catch a pretty trout one it the first time out. I have an old red sears rod that I kept in the closet that I would only bring out to catch sunfish and creek chubs on as I have the high dollar graphite. But I get caught up in this glass rush and post pictures and now it has moved up to the front of the fish today rods. I know the universe is working against me. It is a plot. Then you have these people on here who act like they can help you but do they NO they tell you how to build rod rapping jigs so you can become like them. Well just so you sick Os know you have taken an other poor soul down the road to sin and corruption or at least to the nearest store where rod building supplies can be bought. I built the jig using the info off of this site and will soon be seeking help and advice on putting together the rods. That is one of the blanks in the jig Thanks I think Justin

You are going to have to finish the rod. I have to tell you its IMPOSSIBLE to do it right the first dozen times. Oh, you are sucked in my friend. Read the book from cover to cover. Check out a couple more. While you are reading these, get the catalogs from Mudhole and Angler's Workshop. You might also start haunting rodbuildingforum.com and some of the other rod building sites. As you have already demonstrated, many of the tools you need for rod building can be home made. You have a very nice rod wrapping rig to start with. Add some scissors, brushes, a file, and some sand paper and you will be up and running. Buy materials only as you need them. I foresee a day when you are explaining to your dear wife about your absolute need for a metal turning lathe so you can "save money" by making your own reelseats. Watch out, or you won't see the 8 iron coming... Tom

They even sent me their catalog. So much things I wanted to buy, but so little money to spend.. Later, you might need one of this for rod drying... Just like you, Justin, I am an apprentice myself and I just completed my 1st built on a Lami blank. The feeling of satisfaction is just great...

Couple of hints to hide the obsession: 1) Burn all receipts. 2) Run a rod swap or donation. That way there is no way for the missus to figure out what you ordered or what is being sent for the swap/ donation. 3) Deny, deny, deny.

They make it too easy to count! I made that mistake. I'd only recommend a rod rack for storage if it holds rods in the tubes. That way, you can slip more than one rod in a tube. Once you reach "critical mass", you're fine. critical mass - when you have so many rods that your wife can't tell that you've bought another rod or reel. Of course, if she fishes too, you're just hosed. But at least you can borrow her stuff, if she's nice to you. Use the Fly, Luke!

Now there is no way I can build a rod that pretty but you set me up to keep spending money and get tools. Have you all no pitty this is crule and unusual punishment. I did pick up the Dale Clemens book see what you have done even more humble rod wrapping apprentice after seeing fango's pictures Justin Ps I think I have a arrow cresting tool that I may be able to turn into a rod turner.

The first rod NEVER turns out right. I suggest you go to Jann's Netcraft and buy the cheapest blank, guides and seat you can for the first rod. If you're good...GOOD! If you're like me, you'll donate your first build to a Scout troop.
