I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a new blank. Been doing some reading and think I'll get a diamondglas. Read that the 2 piece blanks are a
little stiffer/crisper than the 3 pc. H&H still has a 7ft 3 wt 3 pc and 7'6" 3wt 2 pc. Are these true 3 wts? Most of my fishing with a 3 wt
would be close in, not a lot of line out but be the same token don't like rod to bend too far into the grip. Any suggestions?

Or, look at the H&H 6.5' 2wt blanks for a graphite alternative- these make great 3/4 wts.

hey mike,
there's a 6'6" 3wt that is a 3wt, and the 7'6" 3wt i liked best with a TT3/4. i have the 7' 4wt (also 2pc) and it's a neat little rod. as far as i know, the 7' 3wt is the 3pc version and it's supposed to be slower. if you don't need much length for mending/reaching, the 6'6" 3wt is a sweet little rod. |

Mike,
The 6'6" and 7'6" are quick and there's board members that have stated they fish them with a #4. If you don't need distance, the 7' #3 is a true #3 and fine with a WF3. It's a bit slower though than the 2pcrs.. I've fished all three of the D'glass #3s. I like the 7' and 6'6'. I thought the 7'6" #3 was a dog! I tried TT 2/3; WF3, WF4 and DT3 on it and didn't like it with any of those lines. LOL!!!! I'll second Fred's suggestion...Steffen blanks are great. A DT2 on either the 7' or 7'6" 2/3 are fantastic. Also, the Riffle 6'8" and 7'0" have some punch for short rods and (IMO) are good with a DT3.

Thanks for the replies. Here is a little backstory, I have an Avid 7 ft 3 wt that I simply love. A couple of years ago I decided to replace my factory rods
with custom built rods. The St Croix SCIII blank had been updated and the action just isn't as nice. The rod works OK but I just don't feel as
comfortable with it. I've heard a lot about Diamonglass action and feel so I thought I might try one. Kind of want a 7 ft but might go 6 inches either
way if the feel is right. I have heard the Stephen and Mcfarlands are a little slower. Unfortunately, everything is subjective. If I could afford to build
them all and keep the one I liked it would be great, alas, a bit impracticle on my budget. Getting an itchy trigger finger!

If you want a faster glass blank, the Riffle or the Diamondglass are both there. Even faster? Scott F.
