It worked great - the fly landed about as softly on the water as I've ever been able to do.
But the balance of my line to leader to tippet is a little off.
My the tip of my fly line would hit the water *way* before my fly would.
And in casting, I had trouble keeping the loop tight. everything seems to open up
at the furled leader/line connection.
I'm using a pretty stout ~6" length of Maxima to make the transition from line to furled leader,
with the maxima to line connection handles by one of thise plastic "barrel" connectors.
I'm thinking maybe I should try a more supple length of mono to make the furl/line transition?
Would that help things "tighter"?
I know that many will poo-poo the plastic barrel connector, for the weight they add.
But in my case, the sheer conveiniece of them is going to win that battle.
And I don't like standard loop conncetions, but would maybe consider making my own smaller loop,
if everyone thinks that will really help?
Thoughts?
