This South Fork rod has become my favorite, it cast a hopper/dropper very well and I was really able to throw some line out using a small dry fly. It's an 8' #5 rod built on a Lami blank.

Did a little fishing in Fredericksburg TX Sunday |

I hit Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in Fredericksburg this Sunday morning, I only had 2 bites but managed to land a little bass on a hopper/dropper setup.
I think this creek is called Bull Creek but I may be wrong, it is a nice stretch of water and would be nice to have a kayak in. There appear to be many big
carp in this creek making the water murky with their feeding. I saw something big stirring up water and being very aggressive with my first thought of it
being a gar but found it to be a 3 foot carp, then I saw about 5 more carp and one huge Koi in the water. Unfortunately the carp just ingored everything I
threw at them even though they appeared to be eating with their tails coming out of the water. Anyways, here are some pics:

Looks like a nice place. My experience with carp has been similar.

Boru, great post, for some reason I really like the second photo.
I may get in trouble for this but I guess ribs1 is the forum's "go-to" guy where big carp are concerned, he's a great resource. Did the bass go for the topwater or the "down-low?"

Thanks guys, Middlemac, he went for the dropper- a little mylar minnow tied on a #8 hook. In that 2nd pic, on the other side of that island is where I first
saw a big carp stirring up the bottom.

Mike,
Nice shots of Live Oak Creek as i was told. When I last fished it, I have had great luck in the "snakey" areas below the dam as well as upstream near the golf course. Here's a link : http://www.tshaonline.org...e/articles/LL/rblaj.html If you ever get a chance try Baron's Creek is good too -especially where it meets the Pedernales. http://www.tshaonline.org...e/articles/BB/rbb25.html I'll be there in June if you want to try and link up to fish those or the Pedernales. Ah, thanks Keebranch, I stand corrected. I haven't had much luck below that dam although it does look like a great place to fish. It's only about 65
miles from the house so it might be worth meeting up there then, let me know.

Haven't been out to the Perd since the latest rain but it was pretty doggone low at the park about two weeks ago. Still flowing but crystal clear, you can
see to the bottom of the big pools above the falls. I was there on a cloudless day and had heck catching anything. I'd think dawn/dusk or cloudy would be
the best shot unless we get some rain.

That sure is some pretty water there Edward, nothing is set in stone but meeting up would be cool if we could get our schedules inline for June- I'd have
to do it on a weekend when my wife isn't off (she gets one weekend a month off) and I won't know which one until a few weeks from now.

Edward/Mike,
I'll get back with y'all on a hard date. Wabash1967 and I have to firm things up with our wives. Also we're trying to get Bud and his wife in on this one. Shopping schedules need to be checked as well. Les |
