They had a silent auction and I picked up this Hardy Glaskona Trout Fly 8 ft 6 wt (2/2) for a song. I found where they were made between 1961-66, but was wondering if you guys could shed any more light on history of the rod. Any ideas on the origin of the blank? thanks again, Snook

Apparently it was an early development with pretty good credentials. You likely have a very good, early rod that has both utilitarian and actual value. Glenn

The wraps are as original as the day the rod left the factory ! I have seen hardy glass wrapped in this style and color in the past as well. At the tag sale I was selling and not in a position to buy so I pointed this rod out to Snook. I am in the process of cleaning the ferrules and replacing the missing hook keeper ring. The blank looks either Conlon or Wright and McGill in origin to me but I am not sure though. I hope someone has the blank source information Snook seeks ! After 1966, Hardy began buying their blanks from Fisher via airfreight. In 1969, Fisher set up an blank production facility in Alnwick for Hardy, using Fisher technology. Also in 1966, Hardy began making the American Glaskona. The rod was designed by Jon Tarantino with the first solid glass spigot ferrules. The metal ferrules on Snook's rod indicate it is a pre-Fisher blank. Tom
