Good Morning! I acquired several rods yesterday as part of a package of one fisherman's stash, both bamboo and glass, these two Fenwicks were part of that
quiver. I was wondering if I could get a rough idea as to their value. Let me say first that this guy was fastidious about taking care of his equipment. Every
rod I got was perfectly cared for, with hardly a mark on any of them. Both rods have darkened grips and slight scratching of the male slide so they have been
used, but obviously lovingly. Ok, the first rod is an FF70 3oz. with a serial number of E18967,. The glass is a light translucent brown, almost like a carmel,
with a two-toned light brown and gold anodized aluminum uplocking reelseat with aluminum butt cap, half-wells grip with very little taper, reddish-brown
plastic winding check, 4 perfect decals including one that I generally don't see on later Fenwicks that says "AFTMA Fly Line No. 5", and brown
wraps tipped white (and black at the signature wrap between the decals and the first guide). The second rod is a FF80 4 oz, serial number F18796, translucent
but slightly darker glass, same reelseat but the anodizing color is reversed and the butt cap is black plastic, similar grip with slightly more indentation to
the diameter of the grip at the thumb rest area, black plastic winding check, and the more typical 3 decals (perfect). Both rods are in labelled tartan plaid
bags and labelled aluminum tubes with the chain-attached aluminum caps. Tubes are scratched but not dented. Labels indicate the rods were made in Westminister,
CA. Any help with these would be appreciated. Todd
