Availability of Young Springs and Pawls? |
Lead | |
|
I looked through the archives and found some info on availibilty of springs and pawls for the old Youngs but not info for me and where a common man can find.
Where can a man buy some to have in case in the future none are available? Ron, thanx in advance as I know you'll have the most accurate input on this. I
thought some fellers may be interested as well.

I am the one guy in the US who keeps these around.
My thought? You will never need them, but if you do, I have them. If you install either it will change the function of your reel so dramatically, you probably won't like it. That is why I reshape an re-temper springs to match them up to the pawl for optimal function on each reel.

I guess breakage then would not likely be an issue...................Ray..............

No I haven't had one break and I doubt I ever will. Does the tempering strengthen and or stiffin the spring for more resistance? (drag wise) for the change
needed for the conversion to left hand retrieve? Or do some people have you stiff'n the springs for personal preference on right hand retrieve reels as
well. Thanx as always.............Ray.............

tempering sets the final shape of the spring after you bend it to increase the stiffness or tune the function.
